Pinpoint Technology
Ltd, has announced the release of its solar powered trailer tracking
system. The new technology will provide the logistics industry with
a long awaited tracking solution for trailers.
The benefits
of vehicle tracking are well proven. However solutions available
to date have been based on in-cab tracking and not on the trailer.
Pinpoint's unique system now brings these benefits to entire fleets
by offering both in-cab and trailer tracking.
The innovative,
self contained hardware integrates proven GSM and GPS tracking technology
with a highly optimised solar power management system. The units
are installed by simply bonding them on to the trailer roof, a process
that can be carried out whilst the trailer is being loaded. Installation
costs are minimal as there is no external wiring and no modifications
are required to the trailer, tractor unit or electrical systems.
Pinpoint's web
based user interface offers a trailer orientated fleet management
system and high quality digital mapping that can be securely accessed
through the internet. Sam Radford, fleet manager at Tibbett and
Britten said "I like it because it is very easy to use so everyone
can use it. The scheduling and loading plans are done by different
people and the flexibility of the system makes the task quick and
easy."
Commenting on
the release, Michael Perkins, a director of Pinpoint said "Fleet
operators have already benefited from in-cab tracking solutions
and our solution will enable our customers to increase the efficiency
of their trailer fleets as well."
