The
Scenario
First,
picture the scenario. It's the day of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
The helicopter operator has 12 helicopters flying that day from a
private site near Milton Keynes. Several of the aircraft are beginning
their day from remote locations. |

The
Weather
One
of the pilots, starting from White Waltham, has telephoned to say
that the weather is not good over the Chilterns, he'll try to come
via the lower ground around the River Thames. |
Time
Passes
A
flight normally lasting around 25 minutes takes, because of the weather,
a little over 45 minutes. Never the less we are fully confident at
all times that the helicopter is making progress, that he's not turned
back and that he hasn't aborted the flight. |

Pick
Up
As
he approaches the shuttle site in Milton Keynes his passengers are
briefed and, exactly as predicted, the helicopter arrives to ferry
them to Silverstone. A great deal of stress is avoided all round,
particularly on a day when eleven other machines are experiencing
similar delays and variations due to the weather. |
Consider
the gains in efficiency, service and safety as our helicopter (one
of 150 flying in and out of Silverstone that day!) carried out shuttle
runs from Milton Keynes to Silverstone and back. |
